Help! Does fiberglass on your skin cause extreme itching and pain? Quick, save this first-aid guide!
1️⃣ Rinse with clean water: As soon as you notice you've got fiberglass on you, head straight to the faucet! Rinse the affected area under a large amount of water for 5 - 10 minutes. The flowing water will wash away the surface fiberglass. Don't rub the skin, or the fiberglass will “drill” deeper into it!
2️⃣ Remove with tape: Still itchy after rinsing? It's time for the “savior” tape to come into play! Press a piece of transparent tape or medical tape onto the affected area and then peel it off. All the fiberglass will stick to the tape. If you have sensitive skin, choose medical tape as it's gentler.
3️⃣ Clean with lotion: Bring out baby oil or olive oil! Apply it to the area and massage for 1 - 2 minutes to soften the fiberglass. After wiping it off, use shower gel to clean the area a second time, and the fiberglass will be completely removed!
If your skin becomes red, swollen, and extremely painful, or if the fiberglass has penetrated deeply, go directly to the hospital and see a doctor! After that, apply aloe vera gel to repair the skin. Don't scratch it. Disinfect any broken skin with iodine. Next time you need to come into contact with fiberglass, dress up like an “astronaut” and take good protective measures to stay away from fiberglass troubles!
